Have You Seen Your Feathers Lately?

What's goodie my purple family? I hope you all have been living your life like each minute is a world premiere because it is! I'm sure we all know the old saying "birds of a feather". When was the last time you checked your flock? Purple living in part is about being an individual, but it also about helping the flock around you find their color as well. When you set goals for yourself sometimes it's hard for people around to see your vision, but when your flock is purple they may not see it but they'll show the support the same! I wouldn't suggest you stay flying around with them if they don't. As much as we can't control anyone else we can control ourselves and who we choose as a circle. Being that it is now autumn you may notice many different colors on the leaves, but you also notice that they are all growing from the same tree! Nature shows us that we don't have to be the same to be apart of the same growth. Negative people are necessary, they are the ones who make us realize what we don't wanna be.

We should each try and surround ourselves with those who have like minded goals or at least inspire us to reach ours. If you are living an uninspired life what would it benefit me calling you friend? It would be easy for you to pull me down, and just as hard for me to pull you up. Those are the ones who I tend to kindly remove from my circle and I suggest you do the same. Not out of ill will, but the company we keep speaks volumes about who we are. I choose to seek out people who try and live inspired lives and add to my purple. In turn I try to encourage what ever dreams and goals my circle desires to achieve. It's give and take. You can't possibly to go through life taking while offering nothing of yourself and hope to grow. Sorry to tell you, but you would have better luck getting my dog, Sade, to rap along to a Marv and Cash song.

One of the most powerful and influential people in the world said "you should treat your circle of friends like a dart board, each one getting smaller and smaller and you should deal with them accordingly". I don't think Ms.Winfrey could have said it any clearer. There's nothing wrong with having friends who don't always see the level of water in the cup as, half-full or half-empty as long they allow me to acknowledge that there is a cup! A person who doesn't even acknowledge there can be a full cup could not be someone in my inner flock. That is someone who will never drink, they will never taste a whole drink or even a half empty drink of that juice we call success how ever you define it. A friend would not hamper my vision, no matter if they believe or not. Find a support system of like minded people and you'll be surprised to see your goals eventually begin to materialize. So before you get ready to take flight, check around and make sure your feathers are beginning to turn the same colors. Purple...

What Do You Think?

What's up my purple family! We're back yet again for another small tip on living a purple life. Believe it or not, everything we do in this life we actually do two times. Once in thought and then the action. So my question to our family is "What do you think"? It's hard enough staying productive with all the distractions we have available to us, but throw the hustle and bustle of day to day tasks on top of it and it's a wonder how we have anytime to think about the things we're passionate about. Our thoughts for the most part dictate what kind of state of being we're in. Think purple, be purple! If you don't like the condition you are in, try changing your thoughts and you might be surprised.

The president and CEO of Inner City Broadcasting Company Percy Sutton said "If you could pray for only one thing, let it be for an idea." When we at least find some time to occupy our thoughts on the things we want they become more tangible. Instead of putting energy and thought on what someone else is thinking let's concentrate on our own idea's and light bulbs! We purple people love thinking and acting on our behalf and it all starts in the mind my friends.

So from now on let's remember that what's on the inside is reflected on the outside. Therefore if you spend your day with useless things on your mind it's a good chance you're having a useless day. It's not our job to preach to you, after all these are things we all struggle wit but as purple people we feel change is necessary to grow and evolve. So till next time people, stay purple!

1 of 1

I know the last thing any of us want is someone telling us what to do, for the most part we would like to think of ourselves as independent thinkers. So why is it we spend most of our time following somebody else's lead. Most of it is sub conscience we don't even realize who much our choices are influenced by others. Dress, style, and even some habits can be credited to the people around us. As much as we try and be individuals we have a need to "fit in." That piece of our DNA keeps us trying to be "a part" instead of "apart". We all know being purple is being apart! Let's face it, the majority of us are followers to our heart and what stands out more than someone who is willing to stand up! A word that scares me to my core is CONFORMITY all though on some levels we all conform in our on way. The problem comes in when we can no longer recognize ourselves because we have assimilated into the herd.

Most of our time is spent following guidelines that have been set for us. Granted this helps keep some kind of order in our day to day but doesn't it sound kind of boring? I know, I know, it's not suppose to be all fun and games but in the words of the great Jimmy Hendrix "I don't give a damn what others say, it's okay to color outside of the lines". Mr. Hendrix could not have been more correct keeping order is fine, but there is room for a little scribbling every once in a while.

Me and my team try to live a purple life, we would like you to join us, not become us. It's crazy to even take what we say and blindly follow us! Although we do offer any one who is also searching for that feeling of a little liberation in your day to day, your welcome to come rite along and join in the purple! No more getting along just to get along, later for keeping up with the Jones, when you're purple you tend to sweep around your own front door. By no means are we elites or claiming to only accept a certain mold or type, on the contrary most of our purple family comes from all walks of life with one common theme. To find out what that theme is join in on the journey into a whole new page, a purple page..

Back To The Beginning

I know, I know, it's been way to long since we had a chance to share with you our purple family, but I trust you all have been living life as purple as possible. Now for those who aren't that familiar with what exactly I mean you’re in for a treat, because I feel as though before we can move on to our future we must recognize our past. So with that being said, as we recap the most sacred thing that I would like us all to remember is to be purple is to be your complete self. Sounds easy and it should be if it was the only key to being purple, but alas it's not, my purple friends. Not to worry, we're going to pick up right where we left off, all the while welcoming new purple people to the life! I want you to understand that in no way are we claiming to have the key to a fairy tale existence, but this existence can be just as fulfilling when we all try to strive and live our passion. Not everyone has a passion for the arts, music, poetry, dance, etc. but you should still want to go hard at the things you are longing to become.

It seems like it all comes down to what makes each of us tick. What is that one thing you do that gets you to totally become engulfed or consumed by it? I know for me, music is the one thing that I lose myself in. Not from a performance stand point, just from a overall love of how it's created and brought together. But that's enough about me and my purple dreams; this is about you, our purple people and you chasing yours! We want to be clear and remind you this is a journey we're all on, so feel free to comment, suggest, disagree, whatever you feel, this is an open chapter in a book of discovery that we're writing as we learn and discover with you our people. Me and my team are on a mission to create a world of individuals who think, act, and even create outside of the rules the establishment and the status quo.

So in closing I just wanted you to know that we're back and the timing couldn't be better as we reconnect with old friends and gain new ones. As I said before we are all on a journey of discovery so feel free to hit us up and leave your comments. Let's get ready for a whole new chapter of purple living!

The Fourth Rule to Living a Purple Life:

"The Other P Word"

So far we've been giving you all some of what we like to call "rules to living a purple life", but this time I wanted to share an unofficial rule that we all struggle with from time to time. By now we have all seen the devastation that has taken place in Haiti, and aside from feeling sorrow and sadness for the residence of the country, it made me wonder about the other p word, purpose. We all know that standing out of a crowd is one of the most important rules to living purple, but more than standing out you have to stand for something worth being notice! Doing something for the sake of being different isn't enough. You might wanna ask yourself is what I'm doing going to be worth the possible ridicule, possible failure, or even the possibility of laughter, but when what you do has a purpose that you believe in these questions will almost answer themselves.

The beautiful thing about purpose is that it is self appointed. People will often want to question it, but when you are truly passionate about what it is the purpose will easily show itself. Another wonderful thing about purpose is, not only is it self appointed meaning you yourself know what the purpose for a certain thing is, it also can be given meaning you can also give something a purpose. I awake every morning at 5 a.m. to a job that granted I am blessed to have but let's just say it's not what I pictured myself doing as I roamed the halls of Nansemond River High School, but recently when I realized that this is how I have been able to contribute to a mortgage, drive two vehicles and rip threw H&M ( one of my favorite things to do by the way ) it dawned on me I had given getting up at 5 a.m. a purpose which kinda makes it easier to do. Only you can seek and find this other p word in your day to day tasks as well as in your dreams.

People can question value, credibility, or even your reason but only you know your purpose. That's why it's so important for us to have one! This life of our's is relatively short so I feel it is our duty to scramble to grab hold of something and make it mean something. Of course this won't be as easy as it sounds, people go there whole life searching for it and wondering if they even have one. I for one believe that we all have one, but finding it is up to each of us as individuals. No one can put a purpose on us ( even though our parents sometimes try and give us one) purpose doesn't work that way. If it did how happy would we be living out someone else's purpose for us? As I said in the beginning being different isn't enough, purple is cool but purple purpose is the coolest. Smokey The Bear used to say "only you can prevent forest fires" and I'll say "only you can find your PURPOSE". So my friends find some passion, find some purpose,....find some purple.
